National Choreography Award Presented to Livermore Dance Instructor
Kjelene Deakin, Artistic Director/Owner of Trinity Arts Dance Academy received a First Place National Choreography Award for her work on "Ariel's Wish." The honor was presented this summer by American Dance Awards (ADA) during the 2006 National Championships in New York City. Deakin's work was chosen from more than 500 competing entries which came from 75 dance studios in the United States and Canada.
The same routine was also selected to re-compete in the Final Championship Dance Off. The routine was one of the Top 6 Scorers in the Dance Off. Furthermore, the routine's dancer, Elaine Yu received the Christina Richmond Award for Most Entertaining Routine.
Elaine Yu was named 2nd Runner Up for the "2006 America's Junior Dancer Of The Year." The award was selected amongst 34 title contestants who were named Regional Dancers Of The Year during Regional Competitions. To choose the best technical dancer, ADA adjudicates contestants based on their top two scores in technique class (ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and acrobatics) and their performance score. From the technique classes, Yu achieved the top score to receive the High Score Ballet Class Award. Elaine studies at Trinity Arts Dance Academy under the direction of Kjelene Deakin. |
